Filtered Water

Many people would like to enjoy the benefits of filtered and purified water straight from the tap and without the problem of having to install separate tanks or use separate containers. Water companies in Britain are required by law to supply safe drinking water but even in the best circumstances, this water can contain large amounts of chlorine. Tap water may also have an unpleasant taste and odour. Often, such problems are unavoidable in regions where the housing supply pre-dates the 1970s and some domestic water supply pipes are still made of lead. This means the water is contaminated not only by lead but also zinc and copper.

The water supply in hard water areas will contain many calcium and magnesium ions that deposit lime scale and create a scum when mixed with soap and detergent. The answer to these problems is to filter water at the tap. It’s important to find the type of filtered water dispenser to suit particular needs. An activated carbon filter fitted to the main cold water tap of a house, beneath the sink. These cartridges take out chlorine, pesticides and some bacteria, improving the taste and smell of the water. The filter will also reduce hardness of the water and resulting lime scale. Cartridges on filtered water taps work three ways and provide hot, cold and filtered water without any danger of a cross over between the separate water flows. The cartridges are just 30 cm in length and usually last about three months in an average household of between four and five people. Fitting the tap is no different from the fitting of a standard tap. It is an easy fit under the sink. The filtered water comes out of the tap at the same pressure as the mains. The resulting purified water will make an immediate difference to food and beverage tastes.
